    Hey Dala, You're amazing with all this open source work allowing people to save money and become more self-sufficient. I noticed you have mounted your leaf battery vertically on the wall. Is this ok to do? Can you only do it on some battery's or will all of them happily work vertically rather than flat? Makes it a lot neater and easier to mount if that is the case!     Hi Dala, I have Nissan Leaf 2015, one cell has been replaced, however the read out still shows same fault on the same cell. Do i need to Code the cell in? Cell 51 & 52 one shows 4 mV and the other is showing 4550 mV. All other cells are 3890 mV.

    Hey dala thank you for the content watching from Miami Florida here. I found that my onboard charger wasn’t working because my 12 V battery was too low. Replaced battery and now it works . Are you aware of any fixes or devices to keep the battery topped off?

      The 2011-2012 ZE0 has a very anemic 12V charging algorithm. Having OVMS installed helps, since it can warn you if the battery goes low, by sending push notifications to your phone.

    Does anyone know, some Inverter have two battery inputs. Are these realy two independent ports? So is it possible to connect one with an conventinal stationary battery ( like BYD etc. ) and the other one, with the battery translator on an Leaf reused one?

    @DalasEVRepair - so i bought car after front accident, radiator is broken and empty. car still runs- i drove it on emergency vehicle tov. please tell me , will it be enough to disconnect those 2 high voltage switches (under bonnet and on top of engine ) to prevent small battery drawing energy from the big one ? also, can i remove small battery, while repair works will be carried (i think it can last good few moths) ?

    It just so happens I am into mains electrical systems in other countries. I'm a Leaf driver in the US of A. I have a typical household mains of 120/240 split phase. CCS1 I think is the American version with Europe CCS2. And CCS seems easier to find over here as well, so it would be good if I could build a converter device like this for but for American use.

    I wonder if anyone tried with Sungrow SH10RT-ADA Australian version? I'm currently planning to install panels in my house in Canberra Australia and also thinking to find the battery. My provider says Fronius will be way more expensive compare to Sungrow. BTW I'm planning petentially to by EV. Does it make sense to buy 3phase inverter? It is very rear case when I drive more than 60km a day. Currently I do not have anything what uses 3 phase. The only what could be is the EV charger from 3phases. I wanted to buy 3phase woodworing tools, but not sure if that ever happens. I'm currently reviewed supported invertors and looking to buy one of Fronius Primo GEN24 6.0 Plus, Fronius Symo GEN24 8.0 Plus, Fronius GEN24 Plus Symo 10.0 Plus, Sungrow SH6.0RS-ADA, Sungrow SH10RT-ADA

    The reduction gear on my 2022 leaf just started making a growling noise on deceleration. Will drain the oil and if there’s no pieces of gears on the magnetic plugs, I’ll use a thicker heavy duty ATF to squeeze a little extra life out of it. Dala, do you know if the reduction gear on the 62kwh plus leafs is the same one as the regular 40kwh ones? Thanks! I’ll start looking for a replacement soon 😢

      62kWh has a stronger planetary gear, but it can use the reduction gearcase from any other LEAF model

    Would only the used EV batteries get cheaper, single LiFePo cells got cheap, under 75€/kWh for new parts with warranty from NL. Wholesale in China is 45€/kWh plus shipping and tax. Would really like to get a 400V or 800V EV pack, but they are far over 100€/kWh for a used pack often in unknown condition

    Can you just take out the communication altogether, and solder the leads inside the case, to pos/neg. I mean like; is the communication for battery control, needed only for the controls inside the battery itself, or for another purpose? I'm just wondering if you need to have the control in there at all.

    Hi Dala I have a leaf question for you. My 62kwh leaf has recently been dropping its hx value on leafspy. Noticed it started to tank when I left the car sitting at 50% for 10 days. When I came back from that trip I started using it as normal and it slowly’s been dropping from 103+ to 98.42 :( What does this mean and how can I improve that value? Thought I’d ask since you are the biggest leaf expert I know of. Thank you!

      HX means internal resistance. Once the battery ages, the internal resistance in the battery increases (and the HX value goes down). Nothing to worry about, LEAFs are operating even with 25% of the original value!

      In Finland, solar and battery installs are covered under home insurance, as long as an electrician has signed off on it

    Why would there be a requirement of a contactor at all? I guess both the charger and the car are having them. I think they added it to be able to sense the voltage of the car to tell to the CCS part what to supply. Then it need to disconnect the two until measurement is done.
